During Solstice Festival in Iceland (during the solstice), Sol set out to have a playlist of 72 hours that would be played based on what the sun was doing.
To achieve this, an installation was created that exists of two parts: the solar collector and a data visualisation panel that also houses the system.
The data collector contains multiple sensors that collect data from temperature and humidity to light intensity and color index. All these value are used to determine if certain conditions are met which accordingly would play differents parts of the playlist that met with these conditions. For example, when the sun's intensity increased, uptempo tracks would be played or tracks that contain lyrics about sun/heat/warmth et cetera.
The solar collector was able to rotate to follow the path of the sun and is connected to a panel that visualises all the sensor data and the currently playing song.
My roll was the technical design and implementation of the sensor system, mechanical system, audio playback and interface.
