Fot Museum Night, the Van Gogh Museum's main area's were transformed into crowd reactive installations. These installations took famous Van Gogh paintings and ran them through a custom piece of software. This software warped and stretched the colours of these paintings into an abstract and geometric interpretation. A 'crowd intensity' sensor array controlled parameters of the system, fitting the mood of the crowd.
My roll was the design, development and install of the translation software that ran in 3 different area's on multiple outputs.
The software also took colours from the selected paintings and used these values to control the addressable lighting present in the museum.
The different elements of the system communicated in realtime, making for a seamless experience when moving from area to area.
