ONDERWATER

In collaboration with Dutch hip-hop artists Sticks, Typhoon, Kubus and museum De Fundatie we developed an audiovisual exhibit  focussing on the bombardment of information and opinions. ONDER WATER offers a moment of reflection and possible escape.

The installation revolves around multiple tracks written by Sticks and Typhoon, accompanied by both animated and live content.

For this, I programmed a setup that blends multiple live video streams, RSS feeds and satellite televisions with (typographic)animations, linked to the different audio tracks. This makes for an audiovisual experience that shows real-time events in a both a realistic and surrealistic way.

A total of 12 news outlet were captured via YouTube livestreams. Via satellite, an additional 4 channels were captured, switching between channels every 5 minutes. The combined 16 NDI video streams went through a mediaserver for processing, determining where and when they are presented.

For typographic animations, 3 RSS feeds were used, refreshing every hour. Multiple visitors were informed of major events through the installation.
